After declaring she wouldn’t perform at the Oscars because she was “too busy” with taping the ‘Joker’ sequel, Lady Gaga backed off and ended up performing at the 95th awards ceremony.
The presence of the star was only confirmed on Sunday morning (3/12), the day of the event. The Oscar producers have revealed that Gaga’s performance, which was nominated for the original song award for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, was only rearranged at the last minute.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Ricky Kirshner said, “She really wanted to do something and was really busy working on her new movie. We got a text on Thursday saying she wanted to try something, but she hasn’t. fact “I don’t have enough time to do a big performance. She wanted to do something raw. Something that people could see the real Gaga. And, with a voice like hers, you don’t need anything else,” Ricky praised.
With little time to rehearse, Gaga’s performance of the song “Hold My Hand” turned out to be the opposite of a big show: The singer chose to don a simple black T-shirt, ripped jeans and an Allstar to perform her version of the music, performed without special lighting or scenery.
“It’s deeply personal to me and I think we all need each other. It takes a lot of love to go through this life,” she told the audience before starting the performance.
This was Gaga’s fourth performance at the Oscars: in 2016 she sang “Til It Happens to You” from the documentary “The Hunting Ground” (2015) and, in 2019, she won her first statuette singing the hit “Shallow”, from the soundtrack of “A Star Is Born” (2018), featuring Bradley Cooper (“Silver Linings Playbook”).
In 2015 she participated in a tribute to the film “A Noviça Rebelde” (1965) and last year she was alongside Liza Minelli to present the award for best film, awarded to the film “No Ritmo do Coração” (2021) . ).
