Lyubov Kabaeva herself played sports professionally – she played in the basketball team of Uzbekistan, so she always knew how to choose the right words and prepare her daughter for training. It turns out that Alina herself more than once thought about quitting gymnastics, but her mother restrained her.
“Say hi to your parents, because they don’t give up in the first place. I know that from my mom. I wanted to finish rhythmic gymnastics, and she was like, ‘No, you can’t.’ tell her: “Thank you, mom“, – said Kabaeva during one of the meetings with young gymnasts.
The perseverance that his mother inspired in him bore fruit. In 2000, Alina received a bronze medal at the Sydney Olympics, and four years later she won gold in Athens. At the same time, the athlete treats victories very philosophically and does not dwell on past achievements.
“I only remember my sporting victories when I come to see my mother and see her pictures of me: ‘God, I’m an Olympic champion!’ I’ve done enough sport. You have to leave on time. I found myself after sports”– says Kabaeva.
