Rio de Janeiro’s civil police have opened an investigation to investigate the suspect
The influencer Flora Cruz, 20, vented about the episode of sexual harassment by a carer of her father, the 64-year-old sambist Arlindo Cruz, in the last week. The young woman reported the case on her social networks and also registered the case with the Women’s Commissariat. The Civil Police have opened an investigation to investigate the man, but he has not yet shown up at the police station. In testimony to the newspaper The globeFlora detailed the episode.
“I don’t wish what happened to me on anyone. I never imagined that something like this could happen in my house,” said the young woman. According to her, the harassment took place when she arrived at her house at dawn last Monday.
“At home it was just me, him and my father. I was having a shower when he knocked on the bathroom door asking me what time my brother would be back. I said I didn’t know. At the time I thought it was something urgent with Arlindão, but he wasn’t. I never found his behavior strange. Out of all, he was the oldest on the team, he was studying, he was always reading, he seemed to be more relaxed, he was the person who cared about the love of my life, my greater good, who is my father,” he recalled.
In another passage, the young woman recounts the moments of discouragement she experienced. “I went to sleep and woke up to him lying on my bed, next to me, with an erection, putting his hand on me. He wanted to convince me that I should be with him, he said he had seen me with no clothes on. I I yelled, I said no, and he left the room apologizing. He looked bewildered, a little crazy. I was desperate, very scared. I was silent in the room, crying. I couldn’t talk to anyone. I was afraid he would hear me and try to do something mean to me or my father,” she said.
The suspect would still have blamed the victim, claiming that she would have ‘provoked’ him. “After I went to the police station, he texted me to ask me if I knew what harassment was, that I was the one causing it, for the clothes I was wearing, for the way I was at home. much not to report. I was very ashamed. It’s very difficult. My lawyer and my team advised me to register. When I arrived at the police station, there were more than 20 women with children, and then I thought about the importance of reporting”.
Flora concluded with a warning to report situations of violence. “Don’t be ashamed, don’t be afraid, if you are, report it anyway,” she concluded.
