A Globe obtained a favorable decision in court which allowed the program to be shown Direct line on the case of the boy Henry Borel. Minister Gilmar Mendes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), issued the decision on Wednesday evening, 17.

With the minister’s opinion, the program, presented by Pedro Bial, which will tell the story of the crime that took place in 2021, will be broadcast on Thursday evening 18. The information was released by Patrícia Kogut’s column, by the newspaper The globe.

Gilmar Mendes expressed his opinion after Globo appealed against the injunction granted to the defense of Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, known as Jairinho, which prevented the program from being broadcast. In the decision, Gilmar says Jairinho’s defense request had “the clear purpose of censoring the exhibition of journalistic material of clear public interest”.

“The eminent magistrate pushes the limits of his judicial functions to become the inspector of the quality of the journalistic production of the television stations”, said the minister, alluding to the decision of the judge Elizabeth Machado Louro, of the Court of Justice of Rio, which had forbidden to exhibit Direct line.

The defense of former councilor Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, known as Dr. Jairinho, obtained an injunction to prevent the airing of the Linha Direta program following the death of 4-year-old Henry Borel in 2021. Henry Borel Medeiros, age 4, died on March 8, 2021, after internal bleeding and a lacerated liver caused by blunt action. He was welcomed by Monique Medeiros, his mother and stepfather, Dr. Jairinho, at Barra D’Or hospital, Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. The child has already arrived lifeless at the health unit and had purple spots on various parts of his body.

The couple claimed they found Henry unconscious, but an expert opinion found that the cause of his death was a lacerated liver. The IML report also pointed out that the boy sustained several serious injuries in various parts of his body.

Investigations concluded that Jairinho attacked the boy and that the mother, Monique, both knew and omitted. They have been arrested and are awaiting trial for murder. Jairinho also responds to allegations of torture and coercion.
