In an interview with journalist Sofia Cerqueira, the former director said he hadn’t felt well for a few days, which led to a search for a doctor. However, Carvalho’s health deteriorated rapidly.
“On December 26, after weeks of intense tiredness that never went away, I decided to look for a hospital. The last memory I have is driving there. nothing else. I woke up after a month, in that room of hospital, surrounded by my three children and my ex-wife and best friend Deborah Evelyn,” he said.
“What I thought was accumulated fatigue and stress was extensive pneumonia, leading to septicemia (generalized infection). I had to be intubated and put into an induced coma. To make matters worse, I learned I had a pulmonary embolism. Before discharge, I underwent two more hospitalizations to control new beginnings of pneumonia and install a pacemaker, due to a cardiac arrhythmia,” reported Carvalho.
After regaining consciousness, Carvalho added that he didn’t understand what had happened. “I found it hard to believe what I was hearing: I had been left in very serious condition and had spent days in a row in the delicate balance between life and death. I’m only here today because, in addition to having the expertise of good doctors, I think it really wasn’t my moment, I am fully aware that I won a second chance,” marked the heartthrob of the former telenovela.
Dennis Carvalho is still under treatment, but has ensured that the recovery is proceeding at full speed. “I have lost muscle mass and, for now, I can only walk at home. I go out in a motorized chair and do physiotherapy twice a day,” he said, seen leaving the cinema last Thursday (5/19). ) with a lot of effort.
“I’m trying to maintain a healthier diet and, like cigarettes, I’ve cut out alcohol. I’ve never liked getting drunk, but every day to unwind, before bed, I’d have a shot of vodka with Coke- Cola reinvent and I have a lot of gas, a lot of wood to burn I want to die working.
Still reluctant, the former director has said he will return to work at Globo as long as the contract for work is attractive. “This entire hurricane occurred at a time when I was still under the impact of leaving Globo. It wasn’t surprising. We always saw reports of fired talent and I knew he could reach me. The question was who and how communicated to me that I was no longer useful,” he recalled.
