Revolution: Apple launches the virtual reality display that retires computers and TVs

After almost a decade without launching new devices, Apple has introduced its first virtual reality display, the Vision Pro. The brand, which hasn’t brought anything new to the market since the Apple Watch, enters the universe of reality virtual with its headset, which will be launched with a starting price of U$S 3499 (about R$ 17,325) in the USA from the beginning of 2024 – in other countries only from the end of next year. The announcement was made during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which took place this Monday (5/6) at the company’s headquarters, located in Cupertino, California.

At the event, the brand’s CEO, Tim Cook, said he believes the augmented reality created by Apple is a profound technology. According to him, Visio Pro will present new forms of spatial computation and will be something expressive for the market, just like the iPhone was an innovative smartphone, which set world trends.

Cook further explained that Visio Pro was built on decades of Apple innovation. For the Apple CEO, the project is years ahead of anything ever created before.

Vision Pro is based on a combination of real life and images pulled from applications and games. Instead of the hermetic experience brought by the displays available on the market today, Apple promises different experiences that blend the virtual world with the real one.

The launch attracts the attention of other companies

During the event, Disney CEO Bob Iger gave his thoughts on the launch of Apple’s Vision Pro. According to him, it is a revolutionary platform that will enable content companies to create deeply expressive stories in a way never seen before.

According to Iger, Vision Pro brings concepts that Disney itself has been working on. The idea of the entertainment giant is to bring the magic of real life to the users. Therefore, Disney+ will be available on Vision Pro as soon as the platform launches.

How VisionPro works

Revolutionary, Vision Pro isn’t just for gaming. It works like a computer, accessing the web through eye and hand movements while browsing, through screens that the user sees projected into their environment. The visur also transforms into a television screen that projects streaming programming directly in front of the user. Apple TV+ is one of the native programs of the device.

The display includes Apple’s first 3D camera, which aims to capture images in spatial video and stills, as well as act as a personal cinema, with a screen that can seem 30 meters wide, with a support for the projection of films, series, games and other services from Apple itself.

In addition to all the above technology, Vision Pro also offers high resolution, with approximately 23 million pixels on two monitors, more than a 4K TV. The technology also features newly developed spatial audio. Apple’s proposal is to change the way all users interact with their applications and enjoy all that the virtual world can offer.

Another key difference between the Apple Vision Pro and its competitors is that you can see people’s eyes through the device, giving the device a slightly more human feel. The Vision Pro’s black exterior becomes somewhat transparent, allowing people around you to see your eyes. At the same time, if someone is trying to talk to whoever is using the device, the user will be able to see it more prominently than any open app.
