Imposters! Stars whose riches have been chased away by bogus heirs

Celebrity Legacy is an enviable jackpot, in the fight for which scammers often join.

Vyacheslav Zaitsev

The legendary Soviet and Russian fashion designer died on April 30, 2023 at the age of 85. Passions around the master’s legacy are only heating up. So, a 39-year-old model named Eduard Krivenko declared his rights.

The man claims that he was a close friend of Zaitsev in the last years of his life and the only one who took care of him, while the couturier’s relatives did not give him the attention he deserved.

Krivenko claims that he has documents confirming his right and that he will defend it in court.

However, it soon became clear that the reputation of the self-proclaimed heir was not so pure: in his hometown of Rostov-on-Don, Edward is wanted by bailiffs. He hangs 72 fines in the amount of 120 thousand rubles.

Alexei Batalov

For the actor’s legacy was a long-term uphill struggle. In general, the star of Soviet cinema had direct heirs: the Gypsy widow Leontenko and two daughters from different marriages. One of them, Maria, has a disability – she was born with cerebral palsy. It seemed that after Batalov died in 2017, at the age of 89, everything should have been quickly settled within the framework of the law, but that was not the case. Relatives of the actor fell victim to “black realtors”, who turned out not to be hardened criminals, but people from the inner circle.

Actress Natalya Drozhzhina and her husband Mikhail Tsivin decided to take possession of Batalov’s property. During the investigation, it turned out that the couple infiltrated the actor’s widow and sick daughter and tricked them into signing documents for the transfer of property, and also stole 20 million rubles from accounts. As a result, justice triumphed – the cunning schemers were tried and sentenced: Drozhzhina received a suspended sentence, but her husband received a five-year real sentence.

Prince

The American singer may be one of the champions of the number of false heirs. Prince died in April 2016, and a whole host of people who wanted to grab a piece of the star’s property immediately lined up. And there was something to share – the artist’s fortune was estimated at $300 million!

As a result, the court in the US state of Minnesota rejected the claims of 29 people (!) who claimed to be able to become heirs. Among the impostors were also completely obscure figures, including Carlin Williams, 39, who was then serving a prison sentence for illegal possession of firearms. The man claimed to be the son of a musician, but a DNA test quickly led him to clean water.
