David himself in childhood starred in various theatrical productions and took part in very serious projects. For example, his track record includes the play “Macbeth”, premiered as part of the Shakespeare Festival in Philadelphia.

Korenswet earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama in 2016 from The Juilliard School in New York.

Protege of Ryan Murphy

The actor’s “godfather” in the profession can be called showrunner Ryan Murphy, known for American Horror Story. It was in his television series The Politician that David played his first major role. On screen, the young actor portrayed River Barkley, a student who took his own life after losing a battle against personal expectations and social pressures that his entire school thought he was the perfect guy. The tragic role helped Korensvet reveal his dramatic talent and shine in some really heartfelt scenes.

Corenswet would then work with Murphy again on the set of the Hollywood series, which would later win numerous awards. There, the new Superman played Jack Castello, an aspiring actor rising through the ranks of the film industry. The role once again showcased Corenswet’s acting abilities and charisma, an essential aspect of the Superman game.

People’s Superman

Other contenders for the role of the superhero included Jacob Elordi, Andrew Richardson, Tom Britney and Nicholas Hoult. But it looks like the audience picked a favorite before the producers. A lot of fan art appeared on the network, where David was already drawn in the image of Superman – the reason for this was his resemblance to Henry Cavill, who was very fond of the public in this role (and fans of the series, of course , were reluctant to let him go).

The actor himself did not hide his interest in the role. So, in 2019, David said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he would like to play Superman.

“I love Henry Cavill’s brooding dark portrayal, but I wish the next Superman was very bright and upbeat.”

And that, in turn, is the interpretation director and screenwriter James Gunn, responsible for directing the new Superman: Legacy movie, aspired to.

As a result, it was in Korensvet’s application that important factors seemed to converge: the actor’s charisma and the coincidence of the vision for the role with the director.

By the way, it’s already known who will play Superman’s girlfriend – that role went to Emmy and two-Golden Globe winner Rachel Brosnahan, known for her starring role in the TV series The Amazing Mrs. Maisel.

Well, for now, we just have to be patient – the new Superman movie will hit theaters in 2025.
