Who is Demis Hassabis, the genius who wants to surpass ChatGPT?

There is another guy who says he will offer a better conversational chatbot project than ChatGPT. Ah, ok… there are many.

I am posting the news here only because this guy is Demis Hassabis, and he is a transcendent and unique talent.

Junior chess champion, he went to work with video games and created some of the best games in history.

Then he decided to do a PhD in neurology, at Cambridge, and published seminal papers in the area.

He got tired of being an academic and returned to the technology market, founding DeepMind, with a few pounds in his wallet and a few brothers.

The goal was modest: to create an autonomous intelligence superior to that of humans.

There were people who believed in it, like Peter Thiel, and in two years DeepMind and its 20 brave men were sold to Google, for half a billion dollars.

Have you gone sunbathing in the Bahamas?

No, he created AlphaGo, which beat the Go world champion in an epic contest, and then AlphaFold (I have to write about it), which is the world’s most important scientific work of the last decade.

Demi is 46 years old.

Alex Winetzki is CEO of Woopi and director of research and development of digital solutions at Stefanini Group.
