In a recent interview with British Vogue, Kit Connorknown for playing Nick “Heartstopper”a hit Netflix series, opened up about her sexual orientation and commented on the pressure she experienced from fans late last year to assume bisexuality.
The 19-year-old actor first spoke publicly about it in 2022, after a wave of questions from fans of the series over Kit playing a bisexual character in the production. “I’m bisexual. Kudos to you for forcing an 18 year old to come out. I think some of you missed the point of the series. Hi,” he wrote on Twitter.
In conversation with Vogue, Connor said he didn’t feel “compelled” to talk about the topic online, but said he would rather do it another way. The plaintiff also guarantees that he does not regret the decision. “I don’t know if I would [dessa forma]. […] In many ways, it’s been really encouraging.”commented.
According to Nick’s interpreter, he wrote the tweet to “release a stored energy”. “I’m a young man, so I’m already going through a lot of other things in terms of life and mental health,” he said.
Connor has said that he considered himself bisexual even before acting “Heartstopper”. “It’s the experience of being maybe too straight to be gay and too gay to be straight. It’s like, ‘Where do I sit?’ But now I feel very confident about it,” reflected.
For the actor, coming out was a natural process and acceptance by the family made all the difference. However, in the school environment, things have not gone so well. Connor called the school he studied at “very heteronormative” and said she had difficulty with the acceptance of his sexuality there.
