Maria is from Rio Grande do Sul, the state that leads the ranking of winners of the competition, and has become the fifteenth representative to carry the title in the lands of Rio Grande do Sul. She is 19 years old and from the city of Rio Grande.
In addition to her modeling career, Maria studies journalism. On social media, the miss, who has more than 32,000 followers, also describes herself as an actress, polyglot, educational activist and teacher of pounds.
She shares her routine with campaigns, social projects in her city and most importantly, preparing for Miss Brazil. In April, she explained how the desire to participate in the contest was born:
“Because I am a model, I have been preparing for many years. But when I turned 18 this desire to be a Miss emerged, because she is a voice, an inspiring personality and, as a communicator, I am very fascinated by this whole universe and by the power it brings to society,” she said in the stories when answering questions from followers.
Last week, Maria shared her selection interview and told the judging panel that she had been preparing for the competition for two years. “I see that I need to prove myself more than other candidates for being only 19, but that doesn’t interfere. I’ve always studied a lot and two years ago that escalated even more.”
In an interview with the GaúchaZH website, Maria also revealed that she has practiced different sports and works in different fields: surfing, beach tennis, volleyball, handball and dance. She also said that she has been linked to social projects for years and, in August last year, she launched one of her own.
Worshiping What Is Ours is an initiative in which the model, in collaboration with tourism in her state, gives lectures in different schools to talk about the history, culture and tradition of her city.
