A 40-year-old Canadian man was arrested before the concert Wool Del Rey in Quebec, Canada on July 15 after he threatened to kill the singer ahead of her performance at the Festival d’été de Quebec. According to CTV News Montreal, the man was arrested on Thursday, July 13.
According to Quebec City police, they received a tip on June 29 and opened an investigation that eventually led to a 40-year-old man from New Brunswick, one of Canada’s eastern Maritime provinces. Identified as Denis Magliopolice revealed that between January 1, 2022 and July 6, 2023, Mallet “knowingly made threats to cause death or bodily harm” to Lana Del Rey.
Denys is quoted as saying the singer’s life would be changed forever after her visit to Quebec, as well as speaking of threats in the background. The investigation ultimately led to the arrest of Denys Mallet in New Brunswick. However, a deportation order was issued for the defendant’s transportation to Quebec.
In Quebec, Mallet appeared in court last Friday (14), where he faced charges for making death threats against the artist and was in custody. He will return to court for a bail hearing at a later date.
It’s worth mentioning that this isn’t the first time Lana Del Rey has come under violent threats. In 2018, a Florida man was arrested and sentenced to a year in prison after threatening to kidnap the New York singer-songwriter.
