Claudio Manoel reveals the quarrels between the members behind the scenes of ‘Casseta & Planeta’

Claudius Manoelone of the seven members of the humorist Cassette & Planeta, Urgent!released Globe TV in 1992 and which was a big hit on the net for many years, revealed the aggression between the members of the group.

In an interview with the podcast guessOn the canal Maurice Meirelles to the Youtubehe said he even witnessed a physical fight between Marcello Madureira AND Hubert Aranhaduring rehearsals for a show at the extinct Canecão, in Rio de Janeiro.

“I sang our song and shortly after, out of nowhere, Madureira was on the floor. The band was playing, I didn’t see the argument, and Hubert had just hit Madureira. He was like, ‘What happened?’

The director of the comedy group asked Claudio to calm down his colleagues. He then met with the two and asked them to put aside their confusion and focus on the evidence.

Claudio Besserman Viannaor Bussunda (1962-2006), who didn’t know what was happening because, at that moment, he was watching a match of the Brazilian team, didn’t understand the request and asked: “All this because Brazil drew with Colombia?”.

“He hadn’t seen the beating and no one commented. He was there smoking one, no one spoke to him,” explained Claudio Manoel, who was also involved in a physical fight with Madureira. However, he said the group’s disagreements were quickly forgotten.

The comedian also recalled a situation where the group was vetoed a joke he created, related to the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers, in New York, USA.

“(On September 11, we sent several jokes to the production. Mario Lucio Vaz (former director of TV Globo – 1933-2019) called me and asked me if we were crazy to make a joke with three thousand dead, because public opinion would go against us. And it was a great protection, we would have really screwed”, he assessed.

Limit the humor

The veteran expressed his opinion on the limits of humor, 40 years after the creation of Casseta & Planeta, and also cited the case of Leo Linswho had a show with jokes about minorities taken from Youtube by decision of Justice of São Paulo.

“There are humorists who make jokes to displease the public. Leo Lins is a bit like that, Madureira is a bit like that. Irritation gives a funny ‘that’.
