A the death of MC Katia, recognized veteran of the Brazilian funk scene, was heard by artists, fans and friends, who paid their respects to the singer this Sunday afternoon 13. The news of the funk artist’s death was confirmed on social networks, and since then, the singers Pocah, Tati Quebra Barraco and MC Carol recognized MC Katia’s importance to national funkL.

MC Katia had been hospitalized since the beginning of July, after being admitted to the health unit for the removal of a tumor on her uterus, at the Souza Aguiar hospital, in downtown Rio de Janeiro. She passed away due to complications caused by a thrombosis, which resulted in the amputation of the singer’s leg.

“My friend, I don’t know what to say. Live forever in the Funk, I love you, rest in peace,” posted singer Tati Quebra Barraco in her profile. The friend’s death also sparked outrage. “A funk legend who ended her life without getting the 1% credit he deserved for his success.”

Singer Pocah also paid tribute to the veteran on social media. “RIP MC Katia, our eternal FAITHFUL,” he said, referring to MC Katia’s nickname.

Other artists such as MC Fioti, MC Leo da Baixada, MC Carol, ex-BBB Fred Nicácio and broadcaster David Brazil also released tributes to the funk artist.
