The main cast of Friends has commented publicly, for the first time, on the death of former colleague Matthew Perry. In a joint letter, Chandler’s co-stars said they were “totally devastated” by the loss of their friend. The note was published by the magazine People this Monday, the 30th.

The document was published two days after news of Perry’s death broke at the age of 54. “We are absolutely devastated by the loss of Matthew. We are more than just co-stars. We are family.”

“There is so much to say, but right now we are taking the time to grieve and process this loss that has left us grounded. We will say more in time, as and when we can. For now, our solidarity and love are with Matty’s family, his friends and all those who loved him around the world,” reads the letter signed by actors Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer.

The news of Perry’s death was released on Saturday 28th by the website TMZ. According to the publication, the artist was found dead in the hot tub at home. The first suspicion is that he drowned. According to the publication, no illicit substances were found on site and there were no signs of crime.

Emergency workers were called to the scene to treat a victim who had suffered cardiac arrest, but the actor did not survive. The Los Angeles police have already started investigating the case.
