Internet users are fighting for the end of gossip pages I am shocked, a phenomenon on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). Consequently, the profile has not made any new publications since Saturday 23rd. The revolt of the followers occurred after the death of the young Jéssica Vitória Canedo, 22 years old, who had alleged conversations with Whindersson Nunes published on social media and by Choquei.

Jéssica died on Friday the 22nd. On Saturday the 23rd, Choquei published a clarifying note in which she states that she regrets what happened, but that she has no connection with the death.

“In relation to the events circulated on social media and linked to the tragic event involving the young Jéssia Vitória Canedo, we want to underline that all publications were carried out on the basis of the data available at the time and in strict compliance with the usual activities deriving from the exercise of the right to information”, we read in the profile. The full clarification note can be read at the end of the article.

Before the clarifying note, X users inserted a contextualization in all the publications made by Choquei after Jéssica’s death. “With more than 30 million followers, Choquei contributed to the death of a girl and is dealing with it as if nothing had happened, simply deleting the posts. Jessica’s death cannot be forgotten,” the text reads.

Even with the boycott, the Choquei page still has a total of 28 million followers. The majority is on Instagram, where the profile reaches 21.2 million users.

Jessica’s death

Jéssica’s alleged conversations with Whindersson Nunes were made public last week. At the time the girl stated that it was not a real conversation. With the repercussions of the publication of the prints, the girl began to receive attacks online.

This week, in fact, Jéssica’s mother had already published a video in which she begged to stop the attacks, as her daughter was going through problems and suffering from depression. According to her, Jessica had attempted to take her own life a few times.

In a final statement, Jéssica said she was a victim. According to her, preparations had been made to harm her. “The problem is that you are completely crossing the line and for something I didn’t do. All this nonsense involving my name and Whindersson is nothing more than a joke. Very unfunny. It was obvious that the intention was to ridicule me, the same way they have already tried other times,” he complained.

On Friday the 22nd, Jéssica’s mother, Ines Oliveira, confirmed her daughter’s death through a death note. “It is with regret that we inform you that this morning of 12/22, Jéssica could not resist the depression and so much hatred and died. She will rest today and the burial will take place tomorrow.”

Nonstop Produções, the office responsible for Whindersson Nunes’ career, said in a statement that the comedian was surprised and saddened by the young woman’s death.

“Whindersson Nunes was surprised by the sad news of the death of young Jéssica. Perplexed by the outbreak of this new public massacre caused by the negative use of social networks, the artist laments: ‘I am extremely sad. I went back to the day I lost my son. Let no one suffer the pain of burying a child.’ Nonstop Produções SA and Whindersson Nunes deeply regret what happened and offer solidarity to the family of young Jessica, as well as vehemently repudiating virtual lynching and the harmful use of social media.”
