100 Foot Wave: Discover the Emmy-winning series starring Pedro Scooby


The HBO Max production won in the technical categories, released last week

The Emmy Awards ceremony will take place earlier this week. However, another part of the event began last week, called the Creative Arts Emmy, which recognizes productions in technical categories and television genres. The documentary series 100 Foot Wave, which features in its castPeter Scooby, won the category of best cinematography in a non-fiction program.




“I was very happy that the series was nominated in several categories in this very important award. AND even happier to know that the series won best cinematography. That’s a huge feat for big wave surfing. I’m sure a lot of people enjoyed following a bit of our history and learning more about big wave surfing. I think the series managed to convey at least a little of the feeling and adrenaline that we feel in our routine”, Scooby said.

For the second consecutive year, the production received a nomination for the award for best documentary series. This time, however, with five more nominations. “The 100-Foot Wave” tells the story of the journey of big wave surfing pioneer Garrett Mcnamara and the world’s leading surfers, such as Pedro Scooby, in search of the perfect 100-foot wave. Furthermore, the production chronicles the evolution of the sport over the years and the difficulties faced by great cyclists from around the world. Most of the images were taken in the Nazaré region of Portugal, where the largest waves on the planet are found.

What were the nominations for 100 Foot Wave?

In total, the HBO series was nominated in six award categories: Best Cinematography in a Nonfiction Program, Best Nonfiction Documentary, Best Photo Editing, Best Sound Editing in a Nonfiction Program, Best Film Mixing. -fiction program and best non-fiction screenplay. By winning the category for best cinematography, the production surpassed other giants of American TV: Secrets of the Elephants: Desert, from National Geographic; Stanley Tucci: In Search of Italy, from CNN; Again: a film by Michael J. Fox, from AppleTV+; The project of 1619; Hulu’s “Justice” and National Geographic’s The Territory.
