Taylor Swift sells jet amid controversy over CO2 emissions on tour

After being identified as the biggest carbon emitter, singer negotiates planes and takes offsetting measures, but intense travel remains under critical scrutiny

Taylor Swift traded one of her private jets, a Dassault Falcon 900 worth $44 million, to Triangle Real Estate LLC of Missouri, according to the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA). The settlement, made on Jan. 30, follows Swift’s legal threat against Jack Sweeney, a University of Central Florida student, for tracking and publicly disclosing his flight paths, alleging “stalking and harassment.” The information was disseminated exclusively by Daily email.

The jet, registered by SATA LLC – with an address shared with Taylor Swift Productions – has the number N898TS, symbolizing the singer’s initials and her birth year. Sweeney, who monitors the air traffic of several celebrities, stood out for estimating the carbon emissions of these flights, intensifying the debate over the environmental impact of celebrity travel.

Taylor, identified as the biggest polluting celebrity of 2022 by the Yard agency, continues to come under scrutiny for the emissions generated by her air travel. The artist, who still owns a Dassault 7X for long-distance flights, advocates through her representative, who ensures that emissions are offset through the acquisition of carbon credits and less frequent travel.

The environmental impact of Taylor Swift’s travels

Taylor Swift will travel a total of approximately 32,187 kilometers on a private jet over 10 days, emitting an estimated 122 tons of carbon dioxide.

Second Daily emailthis travel period involves significant travel, including a flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo, followed by a trip to Las Vegas to accompany Travis Kelce, her boyfriend, to the Super Bowl game and, finally, a flight to Melbourne, where the singer will continue his world tour.

The Swift team announced that steps are being taken to mitigate the environmental impact of these trips, through the purchase of carbon credits. These credits are invested in projects that aim to reduce global emissions, as part of the singer’s efforts to offset her carbon footprint.
