Gabriel Costa, son of singer Gal Costa, asked the court on Wednesday 13th that his mother’s body be exhumed and taken to another cemetery and that an autopsy be carried out to definitively establish the cause of her death. The information is from the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo.

According to a petition presented by the young man’s lawyers, he asked that the singer’s remains be transferred to the São João Batista cemetery, in Rio de Janeiro, so that Gal can be buried next to her mother, Mariah Costa Penna. Currently, the artist’s body is located in the Ordem Terceira do Carmo cemetery, in the Consolação neighborhood of São Paulo.

According to the publication, Gal Costa had purchased a perpetual grave so the two could be buried side by side, but the decision to have the body remain in São Paulo was made by Wilma Petrillo, the singer’s widow. When the artist died in 2022, her son was a minor and could not interfere in the decision.
