SBT fires Leo Lins after a joke about the disabled child

Comedian Leo Lins was fired from SBT after teasing Telethon and a child with hydrocephalus during a cabaret show. He left the membership in the program “The Noite”, with Danilo Gentili.

SBT staff confirmed the news: “Leo Lins is no longer part of the SBT cast. He no longer has a contract with us.”

His dismissal came after the repercussions of a video in which Lins teases a child with hydrocephalus. “I think Telethons are really great, because they help children with various kinds of problems. I saw a video of a boy in the Ceará countryside with hydrocephalus. The good thing is that the only place in the city where there is water is His head. The family didn’t even remove it, they installed a well. Now the father draws water for his son and they are all happy, “Leo Lins said during the presentation of his cabaret show.

The joke angered the AACD (Association for Assistance to Disabled Children), which on Monday afternoon (7/7) issued a statement in protest. “The AACD vehemently rejects the ‘joke’ made by Leo Lins in a video recently released on the comedian’s social networks. With an extremely unhappy and very capable speech, he attacks people with hydrocephalus, calls people with disabilities’ children with various types of problems’ and shows disrespect to the residents of Ceará, “the note reads.

On his Instagram, Leo Lins revealed that he suffered from attacks from haters after the video went viral. He shared a netizen’s curse on the social network and joked: “All the love for the culture of cancellation,” he wrote.

Leo Lins had already been sentenced, last year, to pay compensation of R $ 15,000 to a transsexual for making jokes about her gender change. And she had to compensate influencer Thais Carla for another R $ 5,000 by mocking a video showing the difficulty of fat people in gaining access to airplane seats – “exhaling unequivocal fatphobia,” according to the ruling.
