Comedian was fired from SBT after making a biased comment involving a child with hydrocephalus

Leo Lins was fired from SBT after making a joke involving Telethon and a child with hydrocephalus.
In the video, the comedian talked about the Telethon, which raises funds in the station’s actions to help children with disabilities, and recalls the story of a boy from Ceará.
“I think the Telethon is really great, because it helps children with different kinds of problems. I saw a video of a boy in the Ceará countryside with hydrocephalus. The upside is that the only place in the city where there is water is His head. The family didn’t even remove it, they installed a well. Now the father draws water from the son and they are all happy, “he said during a cabaret show.
After the repercussion, SBT decided to fire Leo Lins, who was part of the “The Noite com Danilo Gentili” program. “Leo Lins is no longer part of the SBT cast. He no longer has a contract with us,” the station’s press office said in a statement.
This isn’t the first time the comedian has made controversial jokes and comments on shows or on social media. Below, we separate other situations involving Leo. Watch:
Fatphobia
Leo Lins has already been denounced for making a joke to the digital influencer Thais Carla, who came to share on social networks the difficulty of fat people in having access to airplane seats.
The comedian was sued and Judge Carolina Almeida da Cunha Guedes said the celebrity’s behavior was offensive, promoted hate speech and incited other people to attack the dancer on social media, “exhaling unequivocal fatphobia.” The comedian was convicted and had to pay R $ 5,000.
She also starred in another controversy using the image of plus size model Bia Gremion and her boyfriend, Lorenzo, a trans man, on social media. On the record, the couple appears in lingerie when talking about self-esteem. In republishing the image, Leo warns: “Did I catch your attention? How nice,” he wrote, who then released the dates of some presentations.
transphobia
Leo Lins was sentenced in February of this year to pay compensation of R $ 15,000 after making jokes with a transgender woman. The episode took place in 2018, when he recorded a video to announce a show in the city of Jacareí, inside São Paulo.
In the recording, the comedian compares the history of the town with that of hairdresser Whitney Martins de Oliveira. “The population of the region only began in 1652 with the arrival of Antônio Afonso, founder of Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Parayba, which grew and became Jacareí. Just like Jurandir, who grew and became Babalu,” he said, referring to the name and surname of old Whitney.
After making the joke and again using the image of Whitney, who sued him for feeling exposed, Judge Mariana Sperb sentenced Lins and said she made fun of Whitney. “The content of the video treated her with derision and debauchery,” she said.
Tragedy with the Chapecoense plane
Leo Lins caused controversy by playing with the crash of the Chapecoense plane. The tragedy occurred in 2016 and killed 71 people.
During a cabaret show in 2018, he compared the incident to the death of player Daniel, who played for Sao Paulo, who was murdered in São José dos Pinhais (PR). “At least he died after eating good food. He wasn’t like the Chapecoense players, who were airplane food,” she said in the video posted on his YouTube channel of him. The comment angered fans and family members of the dead players.
Joke involving Japan
Leo also made controversial jokes involving Japan. After the country went through a series of tragedies in 2011, with an earthquake, a tsunami and a nuclear accident, a video that mixed images of the tragedy with excerpts from a comic show went viral on social media.
At the time he was trying to get a visa to enter the country to do some shows, but some Brazilians who lived there petitioned the comedian not to get permission. The document was sent to the consulate and a visa was denied to Lins. Officials said the veto had nothing to do with the video.
