The actor fired in the middle of a soap opera has no regrets for Globo and his career has taken a leap

At the request of Canal Viva, Guilherme Prates recorded a video to invite the public to follow the revival of ‘Malhação – Intensa como a Vida’, produced in 2012 and broadcast again since the beginning of June. His commitment to advertising indicates that he harbored no resentment towards Globo for his early departure from the youth soap opera.

At the time he was 19 years old, the actor played the protagonist Dinho. The character’s attitudes displeased the public. The rejection detected in the research groups with the viewers led to the elimination of the character and his family.

The authors had to change the direction of the twentieth season: Guilherme Leicam was chosen as the main heartthrob of the plot, in the role of Vitor. The change had no impact on audience ratings. The average for the period was among the worst for soap operas produced between 1995 and 2020.

Aware that Guilherme Prates was not responsible for the errors in the script, Globo called him to participate in other works, such as ‘Em Família’, ‘O Rebu’ and ‘Os Dias Eram Assim’.

In ‘Tempo de Amar’, from 2018, he played the Italian Giuseppe. Four years later he returned to the 6pm slot, when he played the passionate Lorenzo in ‘Beyond Illusion’. The artist has also starred in series on AXN, GNT, Amazon Prime and Netflix. Outside of TV, he is an executive producer of videos.
