Rhinitis, allergies, covid, prostate, cancer: what has already affected Silvio Santos’ health

The news of her hospitalization for H1N1 flu worries fans of the presenter who has been away from TV for almost 2 years

The SBT press office denied that Silvio Santos was hospitalized for treatment of H1N1 flu symptoms. The information circulated in the press and on social media throughout Wednesday (17).

The presenter had not been seen in public since February, when he went to his friend Jassa’s salon to have his hair cut and dyed.

On December 12 last year, he stepped out of the door of his home in Sao Paulo to receive a birthday cake brought by fans. He was wearing pajamas and thanked memory for his 93 years.

The presenter’s last recording at the SBT studios took place in September 2022. He is not officially retired. He said he is “too lazy” to work. From afar he follows the management of the station and gives his opinion on the programming.

Shortly before leaving television, Silvio Santos suffered from prolonged hoarseness and rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal mucosa). He became aphonic. He underwent speech therapy sessions to recover his vocal ability.

Previously, the artist had to deal with edema (swelling) in his nose and tongue due to an allergy to perfumes. In August 2021, he spent a few hours under observation at the Albert Einstein Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.

In 1988, Silvio was away from the cameras for 1 month due to a problem with his vocal cords. He sought treatment in a hospital in Boston, USA. At the same time, he discovered a benign tumor on his eyelid, without major complications.

The most serious diagnoses were skin cancer in two areas (leg and forehead) and preventive removal of the prostate. He recovered well from the procedures. In recent years there has been talk of alleged depression, something never confirmed by the press.

According to his eldest daughters, Cíntia and Silvia Abravanel, in their latest podcasts, the presenter is in good health. “It’s better that we’re all together,” the presenter of ‘Sábado Animado’ said in January.
