“Today is a day of pain that I never thought I would feel. I have lost not only a boss, but a great friend, a companion for decades of work, laughter and stories. Silvio has always been more than a boss; he was a teacher, someone who taught with a smile, who believed in simplicity and the value of people,” Roque wrote on his Instagram profile.
Silvio Santos’ famous stage assistant posted a picture showing a wall full of photographs of the two together at different times, as well as books and magazines about the SBT founder.
“From the beginning, in the 60s, when I started working alongside him, I never imagined that we would experience so many things together. I saw him transform Brazilian television, I saw him enchant generations and I had the honor of being at his side at all times. Silvio had this light, this unique ability to make everyone feel special, from his collaborators to the audience that accompanied him home,” he recalled.
“Today the stage is emptier, SBT has lost its greatest splendor and Brazil one of its greatest icons. But for me the loss is even greater. I have lost a brother in life. I will always fondly remember the games, the advice and everything I learned alongside this extraordinary man,” Roque continued in the caption of the Instagram post.
“Silvio, thank you for everything, I owe you my whole life, your example and your legacy will always be alive in me and in all those who have had the privilege of knowing you and working alongside you,” he concluded.
