“do you know”: how and why MakSim’s song became the anthem of Spartak fans

This is one of the most unexpected collaborations – brutal football fans of the famous Russian club “Spartak” have made singer MakSim’s touching song their anthem.

“do you know”: how and why MakSim’s song became the anthem of Spartak fans

MakSim’s performance at Spartak matches seems to have become a good tradition – on July 9, 2022, the singer gathered fans who came to watch the match with Zenit in the St. Petersburg Super Cup. Over 20,000 voices rang out in unison, and it was an incredible moment!

Before this sensation, there was the appearance of singer MakSim at the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow on May 29, 2022: almost 70,000 people sang the hit Do You Know with her. The stands were sobbing with happiness and tenderness, the players were dancing in an embrace – it was impossible to think of a better gift for Spartak, which became the winner of the Russian Cup matches. This touching hit is known by heart to any fan of the Moscow football club, because the song MakSim became its anthem – almost official! How did it happen?

It is believed that the first performance of “Do You Know” in a game of Spartak took place in 2014 in Kazan, the hometown of MakSim. The Muscovites played with the local Rubin, and the song was played at the stadium during the break. Unexpectedly, she has “rolled” the fan sector: it turned out that the fans not only know the song in full, but are also able to sing it loudly and, more importantly, harmoniously. Here is a video of this memorable event.

Kazan’s friendly choir made such an indelible impression on the Spartak fan community that fans wanted to relive this pleasant unity again and again. MakSim’s song became an integral part of their free time: they performed the hit on excursions with a guitar and sang at games. Since there are a large number of Spartak fans in the country, and they are all active people, the hit quickly established itself as an unofficial anthem.

Why do you know”? Even the fans themselves have an unequivocal answer to this question. Several factors appear to have played a role:

  • the song is easy to learn
  • even a person with average vocal abilities can sing it well
  • it has universal words in which everyone can put their own meaning

Replicas “I’m so used to living by you alone” and “Walk barefoot, don’t spare my feet” are especially popular with Spartak fans – they associate them with their love for the club and display them especially diligently!

The singer herself has repeatedly admitted this: she is very happy that her hit again and again brings joy to fans and unites football fans in important moments for them.

And Maxim repaid amply: the fan community and the management of the Spartak club helped the singer in difficult times for her: during the rehabilitation period after an accident and during the recovery of health after a difficult course of the coronavirus which threatened the life of the performer. Spartak announced that he was literally ready to do anything to make MakSim feel better, but his representatives assured that Spartak had enough moral support to make the singer feel needed and loved.

love the song “do you know”?

Sure!

Not really

And at the end of May, Marina Maksimova announced on social networks that she will perform at the final of the Russian Cup in football. She has already played “Do You Know” during Spartak’s match in Sochi in 2019, but then the scale of the event was smaller.

And this time, the wildest expectations have come true: MakSim has confirmed that she remains the mascot of the reds and whites. Spartak won the Cup for the first time in 19 years, beating Dynamo. The singer entered the court barefoot, wearing a flying airy dress – the delight of the fans and the emotions of the moment could not be described in words.
