The body of presenter Silvio Santos was buried this Sunday morning, the 18th, in the Cemitério Israelita do Butantã, in the western area of ​​São Paulo.

Silvio died on Saturday 17th at the age of 93 due to bronchopneumonia resulting from an H1N1 infection. He had been hospitalized at the Albert Einstein Hospital, in São Paulo, since the first of this month.

In keeping with Silvio’s wishes, there was no public wake. Instead, a Jewish ceremony was held for family and close friends. The press was also barred from entering the cemetery. No one at the funeral spoke to reporters.

Both upon arrival and departure, none of the funeral attendees spoke to journalists. Only Silvio’s daughters, Daniela and Rebeca Abravanel, greeted Silvio’s fans and the cameras from inside the car.

In a statement, the Abravanel family said that, while he was still alive, Silvio Santos had stated that he would not like to be veiled in public.

“We want to tell you that many times throughout his life, our father, as he grew up, expressed a wish regarding his departure. He asked us that as soon as he passed away, we would take him directly to the cemetery and have a Jewish meal. ceremony,” the family revealed in the statement.

“He asked us not to exploit his passing. He liked to be celebrated in life and would like to be remembered with the joy he felt. He asked us to respect his wishes. And we will do so,” said the Saints of Silvio’s family.
