Taylor Swift spoke in the early hours of Wednesday 11, after the first debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in the North American elections. The singer’s stance was highly anticipated and, on her social media, declared support for KamalaDemocratic candidate for election.

“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election,” he wrote, praising the country’s current vice president. “I think she is a talented and decisive leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we lead by calm rather than chaos.”

In her position, Taylor recalled when she was the target of fake news, whose image was manipulated by artificial intelligence and published on the website of Republican Donald Trump as if she were his supporter.

“This really triggered my fears about artificial intelligence and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It led me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The easiest way to combat misinformation is to tell the truth,” she stressed.

Ironically, the singer also signed the statement as “cat lady and childless,” a jab at a speech by Trump’s vice presidential nominee, J.D. Vance, who told Fox News in 2021, when he was running for Senate, that the United States was run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable and want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”

“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and where these candidates stand on the issues that matter most to you. As a voter, I try to watch and read everything I can about the policies and plans being proposed for this country.

I was recently made aware of an AI-created “me” falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy on his website. This really brought to the surface my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation. This led me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my real plans for this election as a voter. The easiest way to combat misinformation is to tell the truth.

I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election. I will be voting for @kamalaharris because she is fighting for rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to defend. I think she is a determined and talented leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we lead by calm rather than chaos. I was so touched and impressed by her choice to run for vice president @timwalz, who has been an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s right to their own bodies for decades.

I have done my research and I have made my choice. Your research is all yours and the choice is yours. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: remember that you must be registered to vote! I also think it is much easier to vote early.
