THE Prince Harry turned 40 on Sunday 15th and inherited a gift of S$10 million (R$55 million in current prices). The amount was part of a trust fund set up by the Duke of Sussex’s great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II’s mother, created in 1994.

Great-grandchildren would be eligible to receive their inheritance when they reach their 21st and 40th birthdays. Harry and his brother, Prince William, received $7.9 million (R$43 million) when they turned 21 and $10.5 million (R$57 million) when they turned 40.

“It was a way for the Queen Mother to put money aside for when her great-grandchildren were older and a way to pass on a chunk of her estate in a tax-efficient way. It was a way in which part of her estate could be put aside for them,” a source said. London Times.

Harry has not spoken publicly about the inheritance.
