Cid Moreira celebrated his 97th birthday a week ago while hospitalized

The iconic journalist Cid Moreirapassed away this Thursday 3rd at the age of 97, celebrated his birthday last Sunday, 29th, while he was hospitalized in Petropolisin Rio de Janeiro. The presenter was being treated for pneumonia but died after suffering multiple organ failure.

In a video published on his Instagram in collaboration with his wife Fatima Sampaiothe images show Cid Moreira’s journey in his personal and professional life. In the narrative are present the voices of Fátima and the journalist himself, who declared: “I can’t believe that I’m approaching my centenary. (…) I couldn’t even imagine so many emotions, friendships, people I met.”

“To start Monday by thanking you with many messages for my birthday, I recorded the poem ‘My eight years’, by Casemiro de Abreu,” Cid wrote when publishing the video.

In the images, the presenter appears alongside personalities such as Tatá Werneck, Patricia Poeta, Fátima Bernardes, William Bonner and Roberto Carlos. According to Fátima, Cid had difficulties with the functioning of his kidneys since 2022 and, therefore, often resorted to dialysis sessions.
