The Minister of Justice sends PF to investigate the film with the death scene of Bolsonaro

The Minister of Justice and Public Safety, Anderson Torres, has ordered the Federal Police to investigate a film in which a Jair Bolsonaro-like character rides on a motorcycle and suffers an attack. Photos and videos of an actor dressed as Bolsonaro, lying bloodied on a motorcycle, dominated the Bolsonarist networks on Saturday (16/7), accompanied by protests.

“The images are shocking and deserve careful scrutiny,” the minister said.

According to supporters of Bolsonaro, it is about hate speech by the left and encouraging violence against the president. “This leftist ideology kills and wants to kill even more! They tried to kill Bolsonaro once and now they couldn’t even teach how to do it,” Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, son of Jair, published.

The allegation that the left is promoting hate speech comes just days after Bolsonarian Jorge Guaranho killed PT candidate Marcelo de Arruda in Foz do Iguaçu, invading his themed birthday party, decorated with Lula posters. .

The fictional scenes of an alleged attack on the president have also been repudiated by vice president Hamilton Mourão and former judge Sergio Moro.

“I vehemently reject any act that could encourage violence against anyone. There is a ‘film’ on the networks that demonstrates the alleged assassination of our president. This is not art! This is an immoral act against the nation and the federal government.” , posted Mourão on social media.

“It is unacceptable to treat the death of a person in a joking or figurative way, even more as a president of the Republic. This type of behavior intensifies the spirits and contributes nothing to the political debate,” said Moro.

Two months ago, the Bolsonarists claimed to be the greatest defenders of freedom of expression in Brazil.

Bolsonaro himself affirmed that “freedom of expression is an essential pillar of society in all its manifestations”, pardoning the deputy Daniel Silveira, sentenced to prison for promoting verbal attacks against the STF.

Bolsonaro considered it “injustice” to condemn someone only for threats, such as this about STF Minister Edson Fachin: “Well given beating on that face of yours with a dead cat until it meows.” Or this: “How many times have I imagined you and all the members of this Court. How many times have I imagined you, in the street, beaten. What do you say? What foster violence? No. I only imagined it. I have premeditated, it would not be a crime”.

This is hate speech. Films are works of fiction.

Outraged by the film’s scenes, Bolsonarian Mário Frias even blamed the Globo network. But the broadcaster denied being responsible for the production. In a statement, Globo said he had “no series, soap opera or program with this content”.

Despite this, Globo herself has identified the origin of the images.

“According to the information, the recording would be a film by director Ruy Guerra titled ‘The Fury’,” the company’s statement said.

The note also clarifies that Canal Brasil, owned by the Globo group, holds a 3.61% stake in the ownership rights of this film, “but was never informed of these scenes and, as is customary in the cases of famous directors , does not supervise production. ” . “Although he has a stake in Canal Brasil, Globo does not interfere with the management and content of the channel,” added the text.

When questioned by Folha, Guerra confirmed that he is filming “A Fúria”, but said he did not know if the scenes shared on the networks belong to his work. Even after the report described the scenes, he refused to talk about them. “I can’t tell because I haven’t seen it, I haven’t seen the material,” he said.

He stated that he would not talk about the film until its release and did not reveal when it will happen.

Born in Mozambique, Ruy Guerra is an important part of the history of Brazilian cinema, having distinguished himself with classics such as “Os Cafajestes” (1962), famous for having inaugurated the frontal nude in Brazil, and the landmarks of Cinema Novo “Os Fuzis” (1964). ) and “A Queda” (1977), both awarded with the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.

The long career remains prestigious. The 90-year-old director’s latest release, “Aos Pedaços”, received three awards, including Best Director at the 2020 Gramado Festival.

“A Fúria” is part of the trilogy consisting of “Os Fuzis” and “A Queda”, and follows the character of the previous two films, Mario, originally played by the late Nelson Xavier. Imprisoned during the military dictatorship, “he comes out of jail at an advanced age, to come to terms with his story and with the two men who, in his opinion, have betrayed him and the country: Salatiel, his father-in-law, and today a rich contractor, and Ulysses, his former militant partner, now a powerful politician “- according to the synopsis.

The cast includes Lima Duarte, who appeared in “A Queda”, and Paulo César Pereio, a member of “Os Fuzis”, among others.
