Goodbye to the singer Agnaldo Rayolwho passed away on Monday at the age of 86 following a domestic accident (4), mobilized fans and family in a public farewell ceremony at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Sao Paulo (Alesp).

The funeral wake, which began this Tuesday (5) at 8 am and will last until 2 pm, brings together people of different generations to pay a final tribute to the artist, whose voice had a profound impact on Brazilian music.

Agnaldo’s body arrived in Alesp around 7 am, accompanied by his wife Maria Rayol and the closest family members, who arrived on site with visibly shaken faces.

Among the first tributes delivered were wreaths sent by prominent names in the Brazilian media, including a touching tribute from Faustão and his family, as well as the Band and TV Cultura broadcasters, who also wanted to be present with floral tributes.

Open funeral wake and private burial

The Alesp ceremony, open to the public, allows admirers to greet the singer until the early afternoon, after which his body will be taken to the Gethsemane Cemetery, located in Morumbi, where the burial will take place with a ceremony reserved for family, friends and some members of the press. Rayol’s burial is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Rayol’s death took many by surprise. In the early hours of Monday (4), the singer fell in his apartment in Sao Paulo and was rushed to HSANP hospital, but died from his injuries.
