The actor Denzel Washington69 years old, spoke about US politics in an interview with The Sunday Times. The star is currently promoting the feature film “Gladiator 2”.

When asked by interviewer Jonathan Dean about a line in the film, which says “empires fall, so do emperors”, Denzel pointed out that the line coincides with the current political scenario.

“It’s all politics. All broken promises. And now with the information age the way it is – if anything – left, right, everyone has to learn how to use these tools to manipulate people. There was a great line in the first movie I made, ‘Carbon Copy’ [1981]: ‘Power to the people? Yes, they had it once: it was called the Stone Age,'” he said.

The current president of the United States, Joe BidenHe is from the Democratic Party. However, this month the population elected the Republican, donald trumpas its next ruler. According to Denzel, he believes that both political sides (left and right) manipulate people.

“We’re all slaves to information now. We really are. We’re all slaves. So it doesn’t matter what you think of leaders, like this guy is crazy or this guy is sane, you better realize that you’re being manipulated on both sides,” he added.

In addition to commenting on the current political scenario, Denzel also made a brief reflection on his work as an actor. He commented on the good and bad films that marked his career.

“In life you learn, you earn and then you give back. So [anos 2000] I was winning. With a great agent, my career was built on making money,” he said. He won an Oscar for the film “Training Day” (2001).
