Preta Gil discovered bowel cancer in early 2023. At the time, she underwent surgical treatment and radiotherapy sessions. She also underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy, a procedure that involves the removal of the uterus.
After this first treatment, the cancer went into remission and was not detected by physical exams, imaging, blood or tomography.
In August, Preta reported that the cancer had returned, and doctors had detected it in two lymph nodes, in the peritoneum – the membrane in the abdominal cavity that surrounds organs such as the stomach and intestines – and in the ureter.
On the 19th she underwent surgery to remove the tumors, in a procedure that lasted 20 hours. According to the latest statement released by the medical team of the SÃrio-Libanês hospital, Preta was already stable and awake.
