Preta Gil talks about the impossibility of healing his cancer in Brazil: “I go out, I refuse to accept that it ended for me”

“Walking with faith I will do it, that faith usually does not say,” he sings Gilberto Gil in “Walking with Faith”. His daughter, Preta Gil, proves to have inherited from him the belief in life and fear to face reality. At “Sunday with Huck”, he spoke openly of his serious health situation.

“Now I live in a difficult and complicated phase, because here in Brazil we have done everything possible. So now my chances of healing are out of Brazil, that’s where I go. To return here healed,” he said.

The singer claimed to be determined to follow the treatments abroad in order to “play with his granddaughter, the grandchildren, see my son to be this extraordinary man who is” and fulfill the work program.

“I have a lot to do here in this life, so I refuse to accept that it has now ended for me. I still have a walk.”

“Faith, science and love”, shouted a woman in the audience. “Here, believing in science, in these new opportunities (care) outside of Brazil. I know I am a privileged woman, I have this condition to get out,” he said.

Preta Gil, 50, received the first diagnosis of cancer in the intestine in January 2023. He suffered surgery and shortly after he announced the cure. Last year, the disease returned to four seats in the body: two lymph nodes, a metastase in the peritoneum and a lump in ureter.

On December 19, the artist underwent surgery that lasted 20 hours at the Syrian-Tabano hospital in San Paolo. In recovery, he remained 3 days in induced coma. Now use a definitive colostomy bag.
