Anitta is the first Brazilian to sing at MTV VMAs




Singer Anitta was confirmed this Friday (5/8) as one of the main stage attractions at the Video Music Awards, MTV’s big American party and the largest music video awards event in the world. The 2022 trophy delivery ceremony will take place on August 28 in New Jersey, United States.

With the invitation to sing at the event, Anitta became the first Brazilian artist to compete and even perform at the awards. Last week she had already celebrated the feat of becoming the first Brazilian artist nominated in an individual category. She contests the trophy for the best Latin music video with the video of the hit “Envolver”.

Before her, only Any Gabrielly represented Brazil in the award, but as a member of the multinational group Now United in the Best Band category, in 2020.

Anitta had also participated in the 2021 edition of the VMAs. But without competing for anything, in an action sponsored by Burger King and broadcast only on YouTube during the break of the telecast.

The singer celebrated this feat on social media, saying “Let’s go” in English.
