Mass of the seventh day in memory of Preta Gil, held on Monday (28 July), brought together family and friends in Rio de Janeiro. During the ceremony, Gilberto Gil shared the details of the last moment when he lived with his daughter, marked by affection, lightness and exchange of memories. The statements were made in an interview with the Leo Dias portal and reproduced by the Caras Brasil website.
The singer explained that the farewell occurred before the artist followed the United States for the final phase of the treatment. He revealed that the last conversation between the two took place in San Paolo, where extraordinary stories and moments could remember.
“My last conversation with her was still here in Sao Paulo, because I didn’t go to them in the United States to do the last part of her treatment. But in San Paolo I was, we talked a lot, we played, we exchanged the happy and fun things in life and ready,” said Gilberto Gil, as published by Calas Brasil.
According to the musician, the vibrant personality of his daughter has always been present, even in the most delicate moments. He also described an emotional trace that had been with black since childhood.
“He was very happy with this thing to live, play, to make the meetings a moment of effusiveness. He was very cheerful, at the same time always, since he was small, a certain melancholy tone in his eyes and the like, it was as if he had always known the difficulty of living,” said Gil, according to publication.
As for mourning, Gilberto Gil decided to postpone the Time King Tour Show, which would take place on Saturday (9 August) at the Mangueirão stadium in Belém. The announcement was made through an official declaration issued by the artist’s team and producer 30e.
“The Tour of the time of Gilberto Gil’s time, which was scheduled for August 9 (Saturday) at the Olympic Stadium in Pará, Mangueirão, in Belém, had to be postponed due to the recent loss of Dear Preta Gil, the artist’s daughter,” said the text published by Caras Brazil.
The note also guarantees that the other tour presentations are maintained, without any change. A new date for the concert in Belém should soon be announced on the official channels of the tour and the manufacturer.
Saturday (July 26), the artist made another public tribute to his daughter during the wake, held at the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro. In a publication on social networks, Gil published a photo next to his wife Flora Gil next to the coffin and wrote: “Until the next 50 billion years … where there is joy and love, there will be black”.
