After being declared brain dead on Friday (8/12), actress Anne Heche had her life support devices turned off Sunday night (8/14) for her organ transplant procedure, her representative announced.
According to TMZ, several compatible patients have been found to receive the donation and several organs will be transplanted, but doctors have not specified which ones.
The 53-year-old actress was left with burns and lung injuries after crashing her car into a house, causing a fire in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles on August 18. She fell into a coma after the collision and was on life support for a week.
LAPD was given a warrant to perform a blood draw after evidence suggested she may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident and traces of cocaine and fentanyl were found on the actress.
With his death, the investigation has been suspended and will not be resumed.
