American actress Diane Keaton died this Saturday, aged 11, at the age of 79, in California, United States. The information was confirmed by People magazine. According to a family spokesperson, there are still no details on the cause of death and the family has currently requested respect for privacy.

Keaton was the mother of two adopted sons, Dexter, 29, and Duke, 25. She adopted her eldest at age 50 and her youngest five years later, raising them both alone, without the support of a partner.

The actress’ children grew up in Hollywood, but chose a life far from fame. In an interview with People in 2007, Diane stated that Dexter and Duke were never interested in the artistic world. “They don’t care what I do, which I consider very healthy. We lead an almost normal life,” he said at the time.

In 2022, the actress appeared accompanied by her children at an event at the TCL Chinese Theatre, in Los Angeles. When asked what it meant to be by their side, Keaton summed it up in one word: “Everything.”

Recognized for extraordinary roles in films such as Neurotic Groom, Nervous Bride (1977) and The Godfather (1972), Diane Keaton was one of the most admired artists of her generation, known for her authentic style and versatility over a fifty-year career.
