Gaab began his career singing black music, influenced by his time living abroad, and it was in this style of music that he achieved the biggest success of his career, the hit There’s coffee. After about ten years on the road, the artist decided to follow a different path in his career and reclaim his origins by singing pagodas.

To do this, the artist recorded this Tuesday 21st, the first DVD of the pagoda in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo. THE Earth the recording followed, which took place in a family atmosphere, directed by the artist’s father, Rodriguinho, and with the participation of his caring uncle Thiaguinho.

Besides them, the project also has songs in collaboration with Lauana Prado, MC Daniel and Os Caras do Arrocha, a duo formed by Israel Novaes and Thiago Brava. In total, there are 21 tracks, most of them Gaab compositions.

“When I wrote these songs, I had already imagined the pagodas, but I didn’t imagine that it would be me singing them. Not many people know this, but I already have this job as a composer and I write songs for several other artists to record. When I wrote pagodas, I had a folder on my phone with the songs that I would send to the public. Today I represent these songs. The pagodas tells my story, tells where I come from, tells what I grew up and what I saw it,” he says in an interview with Earth.

Gaab began composing when he was still a teenager and Thiaguinho was responsible for writing the first song he composed. “I was happy to believe in his first song, which was Já Não Dá, which he will record here today, in fact. Gaab was 15 when he recorded this song with me. Today he ventured into, quote-unquote, pagodas, because it’s his first album pagodas, but Gaab has been making pagodas all his life,” says Thiaguinho.

Gaab recalls starting to think about taking up the pagoda in 2023 and intends to continue working in the musical style that his father and uncle, Mr. Dan, grew up with. Rodriguinho, in addition to singing with his son, was also the musical director of the DVD.

“It’s very special to be able to work with me. And in a really professional way. Without that thing of the father helping his son. And, yes, a son who thinks his father is a really incredible producer and a father who thinks his son is an incredible artist. Regardless of the fact that we are a family, there is a lot of seriousness,” concludes Gaab.
