Nine drug dealers killed by police in mega-operation identified; know the names

Among the 121 killed during the mega-operation in Rio de Janeiro were nine drug lords. The Rio government released this Friday (31st) the updated list with the names of the people executed in the Alemão and Penha complexes last Tuesday (28th). Find out who the traffickers are:




Nine drug lords were executed

According to security forces, 99 suspects have been identified among the dead. 78 of them had criminal records and 42 already had an arrest warrant. The nine traffickers are:

  • PPhead of drug trafficking in Pará
  • Chico Rato, drug boss in Manaus (AM)
  • Gringo, drug boss in Manaus (AM)
  • Mazola, drug boss in Feira de Santana (BA)
  • DG, head of drug trafficking in Bahia
  • Facebook, head of drug trafficking in Bahia
  • Fernando Henrique dos Santos, head of drug trafficking in Goiás
  • Wheel, head of drug trafficking in Goiânia (GO)
  • Russian, head of drug trafficking in Vitória (ES)

The mega operation

The “Containment Operation”, carried out in the Penha and Alemão compounds, in Rio de Janeiro, went down in history as the deadliest police action in the country, surpassing even the Carandiru massacre of 1992. In total, 121 people died and more than 50 were arrested during the offensive which involved around 2,500 civil and military police officers, with the support of armored vehicles and helicopters.

According to the authorities, the objective was to carry out warrants against the leaders of the Red Command, but the operation turned into a real urban war, with intense shootings, houses invaded and residents terrified by violence.
