Ezra Miller pleads not guilty to the theft charge

Actor Ezra Miller (“Justice League”) pleaded not guilty to theft charges in the Vermont US court on Monday (10/17). Accused of breaking into a home and stealing several bottles of liquor, the actor faces up to 26 years in prison if convicted.

The actor is accused of breaking into a home in Stamford, Vermont, on May 1. At the time, security camera footage brought police to Miller.

According to the theft charge, the bottles cost about US $ 900. The maximum penalty for this crime is one year in prison and a US $ 1,000 fine. The plaintiff’s biggest problem is the housebreaking offense, which includes another fine of up to $ 1,000, but a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.

“Ezra Miller pleaded not guilty this morning to a home invasion count and a petty theft count in the Vermont Superior Court and agreed to court-imposed conditions for not contacting or entering the residents’ home,” said Lisa B Shelkrot, Miller’s attorney. “Ezra would like to thank him for the love and support he has received from his family and his friends, who continue to be a vital presence in his mental health.”

The actor has been collecting complaints and problems with the police since February, when he was accused of attempting to hang a woman in a bar in Iceland. Later, he was arrested in March in Hawaii for creating a riot in another bar and booked in April on second-degree assault charges at a party at a private residence in Hawaii.

It was then the subject of two restrictive orders. The first was made by the parents of an 18-year-old from the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in the Dakota region, who claim that Miller has been manipulating her daughter since she was 12. At 18 she dropped out of school and ran away from home, ending up in the actor’s residence. The young woman wrote on her Instagram that Miller helped her in a difficult time.

The second was made by the parents of a 12-year-old from Massachusetts, after Miller allegedly had an aggressive fight with her family, showed a gun, and embarrassed the little girl with hugs and gendered comments, after discovering that she had called herself non-. tracks. .

Finally, in June, a complaint emerged that Miller was hosting a mother and her children on her Vermont farm, in unsafe conditions, with guns and ammunition scattered around the property. The mother told the publication that the actor helped her escape an abusive marriage.

In August, Miller apologized for his behavior and began mental health treatment. “Having recently gone through a period of intense crisis, I now understand that I am experiencing complex mental health problems and have started ongoing treatment,” Miller said in a statement. “I want to apologize to everyone I have alarmed and upset about my past behavior. I am committed to doing the work necessary to get back to a healthy, safe and productive phase of my life.”

Treatment would be a requirement of Warner Bros., which faces a dilemma regarding the already completed movie “The Flash”. The costs of replacing him in production would simply be too high: the actor is not only present in almost every scene, but he also has a double role, like a Flash from another universe. It would also be difficult to shelve the launch, after the millionaire expenses invested in its production. But there are plans to take it off the card in future productions.

Miller reportedly re-recorded scenes from the film after the scuffles.

“The Flash” will be released on June 23, 2023.
