Actress Regina Duarte had her Instagram profile restricted from posting fake news. During this Friday (28/10), those who tried to follow the page of the former extraordinary secretary of culture of the Bolsonaro government came across a warning: “Are you sure you want to follow Regina Duarte? This account has repeatedly published false information that has been reviewed by independent fact-checkers or that was contrary to our Community Guidelines. “
The warning was withdrawn later in the day, but several posts on its page were spotted and flagged as fake news.
Additionally, Instagram removed the actress’s official profile from its search engine, making it difficult to access her page. Only those who already know the address or search for it on Google can reach your page.
The restrictions also prevent Regina Duarte from being tagged or mentioned by other accounts.
“We use technology and feedback from our community to identify posts and accounts that may contain false information. We also work with independent fact-checkers around the world who review content in over 60 languages,” says Instagram of its policies in about the false information.
The platform also lists the measures that are taken “when independent fact-checkers identify false information, altered content or content that lacks context”, which include various penalties, including the complete disabling of accounts that persist in spreading lies or violating the Guidelines of the community.
Regina Duarte did not comment on the restrictions imposed by Instagram.
A few hours after narrowing her profile, she posted a video in the kitchen with a Portuguese friend dressed in a yellow T-shirt, teaching the traditional Punheta de Bacalhau recipe.
