The former UFC champion shares fake news and falls for a joke on social media

Former UFC champion Vitor Belfort fell into a joke when he shared a fake news on social networks. In the image, a text states that an Armed Forces general named “Benjamin Arrola” asked the Higher Electoral Tribunal (TSE) for an explanation on the elections after the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The fighter is an avowed supporter of Jair Bolsonaro (PL)defeated candidate at the polls.

The publication read: “Armed Forces General Benjamin Arrola said the army gave the TSE 24 hours to explain what happened at the polls on Sunday. No coherent explanation.”

The judge’s fictitious name was used on purpose in the post so that anyone who shared the fake news would make a misstep. The pun has sexual content when read quickly. The fighter also posted a poll on social media, asking if his followers believed in bribery at the polls during the elections.

Vitor Belfort's message was fake news

During his campaign in the last election, Belfort used social media to express his support for the current president and candidate for re-election, Jair Bolsonaro. After the defeat, Bolsonaro’s supporters expressed resistance to accepting the outcome of the polls.

Despite his political positioning, Belfort maintains his racing routine. On the 19th he will face the American boxer Hasim Rahman Jr.
