Jovem Pan has lost one of his major sources of income. On his initiative, YouTube decided to demonetize all of the news group’s channels maintained on its video platform.
The decision was made after the company identified several pieces of content in violation of its content policy and after several previous warnings and punishments.
In a statement, YouTube highlighted the show’s channel ‘Os Pingos nos Is’ as primarily responsible for the drastic measure.
“The ‘Os Pingos nos Is’ channel has repeatedly violated our policies against disinformation in elections and our guidelines for appropriate content for advertising, including content related to controversial issues and sensitive events, dangerous or harmful acts, and other policies of monetization In this way, we have suspended the monetization of the respective channel and the others that make up the Jovem Pan network on YouTube, in compliance with our rules”, reads the text of the press office of the platform.
Again according to YouTube, every content creator who has been punished has the right to protest.
“Under the guidelines, any sanction can be appealed and re-evaluated, but YouTube’s decision is sovereign,” completes the announcement.
With this, the “civil disobedience” of the company’s extremists will come out of the pockets of Antônio Augusto Amaral de Carvalho Filho, known as Tutinha, owner of the Jovem Pan group.
After Bolsonaro’s electoral defeat, Tutinha promoted the removal of some names most identified with Bolsonarism, stating in an internal meeting, according to the Folha de S. Paulo Panel, that “civil disobedience will not come out of my pockets”. At the time he was referring to court fines, which threatened to punish the company for disinformation.
Despite these cuts, leaked information was that the group would maintain its right-wing tone, but should moderate its editorial line, making critical coverage of the new government. However, instead of moderation there has been even greater radicalisation.
In practice, journalists who attracted the attention of Jovem Pan’s most radicalized extremists, such as Leonardo Grandini and Cesar Calejon, were fired, who publicly asked for their heads from the Bolsonarista Rodrigo Constantino.
“I hope you understand who is giving the hearing,” Constantino said in his threat, posted in a YouTube video, calling for layoffs to continue at Jovem Pan. Now the company can understand who is causing losses.
It is worth noting that the radicals fired by Jovem Pan have already taken refuge in another YouTube channel, of Oeste magazine, which dreams of becoming the biggest reference point for the far right in Brazil. Interestingly, this team is made up of former members of the “Os Pingos nos Is” program.
