In a video posted on the Internet, Fábio Rabin said he feared losing his life to the reprimand of the police during the selection game
More details are emerging on the case of comedian Fábio Rabin’s detention in Qatar. According to the journalist of UOL Adriano Wilkson, Rabin was drunk when approached by police. For this he was held in the ‘drunk room’, where the police keep fans drunk until they are drunk.
In a video posted on social media, the journalist said he had discovered, after helping him, that the comedian had been drinking in the hotel before attending the Brazilian national team match. The consumption of alcoholic beverages in Qatar is only permitted in some hotels and restaurants.
“I found Rabin surrounded by three or four policemen. They were talking and Rabin was crying a lot, saying he didn’t know what to do, that he was desperate. I said I knew Rabin and the policemen said they had to get him out of there. He was very upset and we went to the subway,” Wilkson said.
According to the reporter, they took an Uber to the hotel where Canarinho fans, who sponsored Rabin’s trip, were staying, and left him in the care of friends.
“He said he was fine. His friends were very grateful to him and said Rabin was very drunk when he went to the stadium, he could hardly walk, and that’s why he was arrested,” he added.

Comedian Fábio Rabin denounced the crackdown by the authorities in Qatar during the match between Brazil and South Korea, for the round of 16 of the World Cup. In a video posted on the Internet, Rabin said he feared losing his life to the scolding in the country. According to the comedian, authorities have not identified the reasons for the arrest.
“I’m glad I didn’t die. I was locked in a room with these guys, I turned on a live there and I think that saved me. There’s another guy who’s still in there. I almost died because I tried to help the guy I said, “This guy is with me too.” They didn’t say why they arrested us there. They said, “he’s sober” and nothing else. They put me in a room and told me to smile. I was very afraid of losing my life,” the comedian said.
The comedian was detained by officers around the 974 stadium as he was on his way to watch another World Cup selection match. Local authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
