In the note, the pro said Ruth was manipulated into accusing Carter of crimes he would not have committed. “No one should be misled by a press stunt orchestrated by an opportunist lawyer – there is nothing in this indictment, which we have no doubt the courts will quickly implement.”

After the lawsuit, the ABC television channel in the United States canceled a Christmas special featuring the group on December 14, according to the magazine VarietyπŸ‡§πŸ‡·

Nick Carter was accused of rape and physical assault after a Backstreet Boys concert in 2001. Ruth was 17 at the time, and according to her account, she was taken on the group’s bus.

There, the artist would force Ruth to drink alcohol and take her to bed. According to the woman’s testimony, that would have been the moment in which the physical and sexual assaults would have occurred.

β€œThe past 21 years have been filled with pain, confusion, frustration, shame and self-harm that are a direct result of the rape of Nick Carter,” Ruth said with tears in her eyes as she recalled the alleged crime at a press conference.

The woman also claimed that Carter would have called her a “retard” and left bruises on her arm. She did not file the lawsuit before her for fear of retaliation.

“I hope that by making it public today, other women will find the courage to speak up and ask Nick Carter to take responsibility.”

Carter has a criminal record. He was previously arrested for assault after being involved in a fight in 2016.
