Anastasia Shubskaya and Alexander Ovechkin have been together since 2015, but have known each other for much longer. They met when Nastya was only 14 years old. The girl’s father, businessman Kirill Shubsky, was a member of the Olympic Committee, and in 2008 he took his daughter with him to the Beijing Olympics. There, at one of the parties, Shubskaya met superstar Sasha Ovechkin.

Of course, then one could not talk about feelings: for the hockey player, Nastya was still a child. Nevertheless, the impression of each other was already formed at that time: Shubskaya knew Ovechkin as an aggressive and expressive player, and during a personal meeting she noted his calmness, goodwill and its “non-stellar” simplicity. Then, during one of those evenings in Beijing, their first delay happened – it’s funny, because both of them didn’t even know then that they were going to be married.

From China, Ovechkin returned to the United States, where he has lived for the past few years. From abroad, legends flew to Russia about what an idol Alexander was. The hockey player did not deny the rumors, but stressed that he would marry only a Russian. The first attempt to start a family with a compatriot took place in 2012: Ovechkin announced his engagement to tennis player Maria Kirilenko. However, two years later, the lovers broke up, and Masha became the initiator of the separation.

“I have decided to cancel the engagement. There are several reasons, but I would not like to go into details. I will say one thing: our relationship is over, but I respect Sasha as a person and an athlete and I sincerely wishes further sporting success,” the tennis player said in an interview with R-Sport.

Ovechkin did not cry alone for long and had an affair with 19-year-old Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics Karolina Sevastyanova. But this relationship did not end in anything serious. It is not known how much Alexander would have wandered through life in search of this very one, if not for a random photo on social networks…

In November 2014, the hockey player was scrolling through social networks, where he came across a girl who looked like a model. After finding Nastya’s account, Alexander realized that they had already met with her and wanted to continue communication. Without thinking twice, the athlete wrote directly to Shubskaya and asked for her phone number.

It’s funny, but Nastya received the message exactly one minute after her birthday, November 16 at 00:01. It looked like a good sign, and the girl sent her number. Thus began their communication over a distance of thousands of miles.

However, she did not have to wait long for a one-on-one meeting: Nastya was finishing her studies at VGIK and was going to Los Angeles for advanced training, where she planned to meet her pen pal. The long-awaited first meeting took place in February 2015, when Ovechkin’s team played in the City of Angels.

The first meeting went well, although Shubskaya feared that after three months of active correspondence, they would have nothing to say to each other. On the contrary, it turned out that they were never short of topics of conversation.

After this meeting in Los Angeles, Shubskaya and Ovechkin started dating. The romance developed rapidly, and soon the lovers introduced themselves to their parents. Nastya’s mother, Vera Glagoleva, flew with her daughter to Washington, where she watched Ovechkin’s game, and then met him. The future mother-in-law and son-in-law easily found a common language. Shubskaya, meeting her boyfriend’s parents, realized that next to them you can be yourself.

Only six months after the start of the relationship, Ovechkin decided to marry his beloved. He flew to Russia, where, just on the threshold of Nastya’s house, he knelt down and took a small box with a ring out of his pocket. Shubskaya did not expect such a serious step from the hockey player, and nevertheless, without hesitation, she agreed.

They tied the knot almost a year later on August 28, 2016, and celebrated a beautiful wedding 10 months later, choosing a beautiful date on July 8 – the day of family, love and fidelity. .

Just a month after the magnificent celebration of the spouses, the first test was waiting – after a long struggle with oncology, Nastya’s mother, Vera Glagoleva, died. For the girl (as well as for her sisters) it was a terrible blow, but fortunately there was a loving husband nearby who helped her pass this test.

Even on the eve of the wedding, Shubskaya admitted that she belongs to the category of people for whom the family is the most important thing, so she will follow her husband wherever he says. And she kept her word: soon after the wedding, Nastya moved to her husband in the United States, where they still live today.

In 2018, the couple became parents for the first time: on August 18, a boy was born, whom the happy parents named Sergei – in honor of the deceased elder brother of the hockey player. It was he who brought little Sasha to hockey many years ago, although her parents strongly opposed the idea.

On May 27, 2020, Nastya gave birth to her second son, whom she and Alexander named by the old Russian name Ilya.

From the outside, it seems that an idyll reigns in the Ovechkin family. This is partly true, but Nastya notes that conflicts in their house occur and are resolved only through the wisdom of the spouse: “I have a more complex character, I am Scorpio in the year of the Rooster. And Sasha is calmer, if we have a quarrel, he is silent, then he says to me: “I’m waiting for you to calm down, we’ll discuss everything later.” We’re just in a relationship, because I’m fire and he’s ice.
