Hours after being informed that his video channel had been demonetized by YouTube, Jovem Pan News commentator Rodrigo Constantino blocked his Twitter profile. All posts are gone. In the profile, now only the information that the account was held due to a court notification appears.
On his Instagram account, Constantino shared the content of an email sent from Twitter, informing that his profile has been removed in compliance with a court decision in the context of a trial that is taking place in the secrecy of justice.
He felt he was being censored. “Brazil = China. ‘Democracy’ won, PT ‘love’ is beautiful! And any ‘journalist’ who applauds this censorship is a whore,” the commenter captioned it alongside the printout of the email.
A convinced Bolsonarist, Constantino is one of the most extremist employees of Jovem Pan News, who systematically attacks the judicial system and the elected president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, as well as spreading fake news and stimulating anti-democratic protests. Authoritative, he even asked the group’s directors to fire journalists who criticized his more radical comments on the channel’s programming.
One of his enemies, journalist Cesar Calejon, went viral on social media after criticizing Constantino for anti-democratic demonstrations across the country. At the time, the reporter said it was easy for the commentator to inflame the population in favor of the proceedings when he was comfortable in his home in the United States.
Upset by Calejon’s criticisms, Constantino conditioned his stay at Jovem Pan on the journalist’s dismissal, which was accepted by the broadcaster. A week earlier he had asked for the resignation of another journalist, Leonardo Grandini, after being called a “jerk” by Jair Bolsonaro.
One of his worst attacks, however, was against Leilane Neubarth’s nephew, over a photo of the boy wearing a CPX cap. He accused the journalist of being “a caviar of the irresponsible left”, because, during the elections, the Bolsonarists spread the fake news according to which CPX was referring to a criminal faction, after Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva wore a cap with initials during a visit to the German Government Hill. “Lula visits ‘QG do Comando Vermelho’ in Alemão, RJ, and wears a cap that means ‘termite (partner) of crime’,” Senator Flávio Bolsonaro said.
CPX is in fact the abbreviation of complex, as the favelas of Rio de Janeiro are called. And every resident of Rio knows this. The acronym is also used by the Rio de Janeiro Military Police official profile to refer to the compounds in Rio. It even appears in official Rio de Janeiro government documents, such as the summary of the 2023 budget guidelines law.
But Constantino’s post worked like a dog’s whistle, causing many of his followers to attack Leilane’s nephew on social media, which angered the presenter. “You are very short! I thought you were just fanatical and rude, but you are rotten,” he wrote, receiving the support of fans, who sharply criticized the attitude of the Bolsonarista.
This was enough for him to radicalize himself even more. “The left insists that the acronym only represents ‘complex’, and not the brand used by those who control these specific communities, i.e. CV Vale Tudo to seal, signal false virtues. And they still curse those who criticize the use of their son of the ‘fascist.’ Sad!” he wrote.
One of Costantino’s latest publications was another exchange, this time with presenter Danilo Gentili, after he was accused of encouraging “crazy people to set fire to the country”.
Gentili referred to the fact that Bolsonarist terrorists planted bombs in Brasilia to disrupt Lula’s inauguration. On the Internet, the arrested suspect, identified as George Washington, often shared Constantine’s views.
Denying having encouraged terrorism, Danilo reiterated that yes, he “encouraged the crazy” to be terrorists. “Go to the fucking* that gave birth to you, you damned cynic [sic]. You and others did exactly that: with your fat ass glued to your chair in Miami, you were, yes, encouraging the insane to set the country on fire. Cynical, cowardly,” wrote the presenter.
While the removal of his Twitter profile was a court order, the demonetization of YouTube was the platform’s own initiative.
According to YouTube, the content of their videos would not comply with the company’s guidelines.
“During a recent review, our team of policy experts carefully reviewed the videos you uploaded to your channel ‘Rodrigo Constantino’,” YouTube’s statement began.
“We’ve discovered that a significant portion of your channel doesn’t comply with our YouTube Partner Program Policies. Starting today, your channel isn’t eligible for monetization, and you won’t have access to monetization tools and resources,” concludes l ‘notice. demonetization.
To top it off, Jovem Pan News came under pressure from a campaign by Sleeping Giants Brasil, which, by pointing out the culpable speech of channel employees such as Constantino and Paulo Figueiredo, managed to get major advertisers to cut advertising for the station.
