Presenter Danilo Gentili accused former president Jair Bolsonaro of “trying to wear down” his image and end his career. The accusation was launched in a post on his social networks, in which he gave an overview of the year 2022.
In the post, Gentili said he was under “pressure” from the Bolsonaro government, which attempted to censor his film, “Como se Becomer o Pior Aluno da Escola” (2017), banning its streaming availability on charges that the work was an apology for pedophilia.
“It’s been another year under pressure from another government trying to undermine my image and lose my career. However, today, once again, I saw many of the people calling for my head lose theirs. And I’m still here, still and strong,” he posted.
The case in question occurred in March 2022, when supporters of the president accused Gentili of pedophilia because his film, “Como seviró o Pior Aluno da Escola”, had a pedophile character played by Fábio Porchat. The actor has also become the target of accusations, which have confused the film with reality.
The prosecution gained momentum when the Ministry of Justice and Public Security suspended the screening of the film on digital platforms such as Netflix, Telecine, Globoplay, YouTube, Apple and Amazon. Eventually, this determination was overturned by the STF, which clarified that there is no artistic censorship in Brazil.
Since until then the film was intended for children under 14, the Ministry decided to change its indicative classification for people over 18, as it contained content of “sexual coercion, rape, pedophilia and complex sexual situation “.
Danilo Gentili countered the attacks, classifying them as “outrages, false moralism and patrolling”. In recent months he has begun to make harsh criticisms and attacks on Jair Bolsonaro, whom he defines as “a coward and without honor”, accusations that he also explored in the face of the abandonment of the mandate by the former president, who went to the United States first to finish his term, your civic duty. The presenter also started some discussions with one of Jair’s sons, federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), on social media.
