The RBD phenomenon is shaking structures in Brazil. This Friday (2/3), a long queue has formed at the Paulo Machado de Carvalho stadium, Pacaembu, to buy tickets for the band’s extra shows in São Paulo, which will only take place in November.
Some fans – disgusted by the long wait in line – tore down the protective railings of the space and a great deal of confusion ensued at the site. Several videos on the Internet show fans of the Mexican band tired and angry about the situation. “I’ve never seen this before… crazy stuff,” commented one of the netizens. “Imagine being an adult who as a child could not have gone to an RBD concert for economic reasons, now that you have the conditions and want to buy a ticket you cannot because Eventim leaves you in line for 50 minutes and when you get there, everything is fine well sold out,” one of the fans complained.
After the resounding sales success, RBD has booked extra dates for the concerts of the “Soy Rebelde Tour 2023” in São Paulo. The shows were initially only scheduled for November 17, in São Paulo, and November 19, in Rio de Janeiro. But due to the intense demand, the band decided to also perform in São Paulo on November 16th and 18th.
In São Paulo, RBD presentations take place at the Allianz Parque and prices vary between R$210 (high chair, half price) and R$850 (premium floor, full price). Despite the high prices, fans say they face many difficulties in purchasing tickets.
Procon has been activated and notified to Eventim.
The institution asks for explanations on the problems registered by consumers, who report problems on the platform at the time of purchase and wonder about the speed with which tickets have sold out. There is suspicion of illegal aiding and abetting of tickets to money changers. The intention is that they resell the more expensive tickets later, through the same company, which is illegal.
Since last Friday (27/2), the start date of general ticket sales, Eventim has received more than 400 complaints on Reclame Aqui. None of them got an answer.
It is not the first time that RBD has caused tension in Brazil. On February 4, 2006, during an autograph session for the group in São Paulo, three people were trampled to death. The idea of the event was to promote the four albums released so far, which were sold at the Extra supermarket chain, organizer of the event.
Without a structure to accommodate the thousands of people who attended, a fence ended up giving way and several people were trampled on. Dozens of people were injured and three died.
RBD visited Brazil for the first time since the telenovela “Rebelde” had premiered on SBT – in August 2005. Within months, the telenovela became a phenomenon and the group was already reaching the 1 million mark of albums sold.
In September 2006, the band returned to Brazil for an extensive 13-date tour. Sold out. The group also made a historic presentation at Maracanã Stadium, Rio de Janeiro when they became the first Spanish-speaking group to perform there.
